Our choice of oils and butters (and why we love them!)

Olive Oil:  This oil makes incredibly gentle and hydrating soap. It is very skin-friendly and is recommended especially for more sensitive skin types. We commonly use olive oil as the base of our oil blends.

Coconut Oil:  This solid oil has wonderful cleansing properties and is high in lauric acid (which is an anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial). It also promotes a bubbly lather that we love. As it can be irritating in large amounts to sensitive or dry skin, we tend to use this oil only in small amounts.

Castor Oil:  This rich oil is high in ricinoleic acid, which smooths and moisturizes skin. It significantly boosts bubbles, and we can't get enough of the thick and creamy lather it creates in our soap and shampoo bars.

Sweet Almond Oil:  This rich oil is incredibly moisturizing and nourishing. It is high in vitamin E and is especially beneficial for dry skin. We use it in both our soap and our hair, skin, and beard oil.

Sunflower Oil:  This light oil is high in vitamins A, D, and E, as well as lecithin (which soothes and replenishes skin). It is highly moisturizing and is very skin-friendly. We love how easily it soaks into skin and hydrates instantly.

Shea Butter:  This solid fat from shea nuts is high in unsaponifiable nutrients (meaning they last through the soapmaking process and remain in your bar of soap). It helps soften and smooth skin, and we find it adds a rich and luxurious element to our soap and shampoo bars.

Avocado Oil:  This rich oil is full of essential fatty acids as well as carotenoids, which promote skin repair and skin elasticity. It is also highly moisturizing, which we adore in both our soap and shampoo bars.

Cocoa Butter:  This solid fat from cocoa beans is high in fatty acids and deeply hydrates skin. We also love how it promotes a creamy lather.

Mango Butter:  This solid fat from mango seeds is incredibly nourishing and can repair damaged or dry skin. We use it to bring a luxurious creamy feel to soap.

Argan Oil:  This luxurious oil is rich in antioxidants. It has anti-inflammatory and anti-aging properties, and is incredibly hydrating. We find it invaluable in our shampoo bars due to its ability to promote healthy hair growth.

Jojoba Oil:  This oil is actually a liquid plant wax expelled from jojoba seeds. It helps to smooth and soften dry skin while balancing skin's natural oil production. Because it adds shine and conditions hair so nicely, we love adding it to our shampoo bars as well.
